摘要
The kinetics of oxidation of chloramphenicol (CAP) by 1-chlorobenzotriazole (CBT) in alkaline medium over the temperature range 283-313 K has been studied. The reaction is first order with respect to [CBT] and fractional order with respect to each [CAP] and [OH-]. The observed retardation of rate by the presence of benzotriazole indicated the involvement of OCl- as the oxidising species. The dependence of rate on dielectric constant of the medium and ionic strength is consistent with the proposed mechanism. Activation parameters are evaluated. Rate equation is derived to account for the observed kinetic data and the proposed reaction mechanism.
