Structural changes at the Pt(100) surface with a great number of potential cycles

摘要
The structural changes at a Pt(100) surface, having atomically flat terraces with monatomic steps which have been subjected to a great number of potential cycles, were examined with cyclic voltammetry and in situ STM. The shape of orderly oriented islands after 1000 potential cycles seems to be a flat pyramid of ca. 1.3 nm in height and the base ca. 10 nm in length. The inclined planes of the pyramid could be evaluated as the Pt(310) plane, which can be considered as coincident with the results evaluated from the shape of the voltammogram, after the electrochemical activation.
