In this overview of the BIMA Survey of Nearby Galaxies, we discuss techniques for imaging large structures on the sky with an interferometer. In particular, we present simulations of large-scale imaging and compare BIMA SONG maps of CO (1-0) emission to single dish data from the NRAO 12 Meter Telescope in order to evaluate the interferometer's ability to map large structures on the sky. We also present preliminary scientific results as well as an overview of the science that we plan to address using BIMA SONG.
