Inversion of stereoselectivity in the association between tris(oxalato)cobaltate(III) and bovine serum albumin by the addition of dioxane to aqueous solutions

Measuring the Pfeiffer effect of the addition of bovine serum albumin (BSA) as an optically active environment to a tris(oxalato) cobaltate(III) anion, [Co(ox)(3)](3-), we found that the Lambda-enantiomer of the complex anion is enriched in 5 or 10% dioxanewater solutions but the Delta-enantiomer is concentrated in aqueous solution, where the enantiomeric excess is 72% (Lambda rich) in 10% dioxanewater solution.
