The spatial variability of soil water in slopping farmland of Gannan county was analyzed with MATLA and SPSS which are the software with great function in data analyzing and processing. Through the observation data interpolation and trend surface analysis, it was showed that the quadric equation of the trend surface was in better fitting, the variation of spatial distribution of soil water was very significant, and the, soil water along the direction of the land surface gradient was in gradually increasing trend, which reflected the general rule of soil water distribution for sloping land. The results have a certain guidance to soil and water conservation and farmland irrigation in this region. It also showed that the combination of MATLAB and SPSS can be used for soil water spatial variability study.
