摘要
Carbon nanotubes (CNT) possess very promising properties for field emission applications. At this paper the two methods of field emission properties improving of multi-wall nanotubes (MWNT) are described. The first is filling nanotubes by barium with aim to decrease work function of CNT cathodes. The nanotubes synthesized by arc discharge technique were selected for the tests. CNTs were boiled in the nitric acid solution containing the barium nitrate. Another method is doping the CNTs during arc discharge synthesis. By this technique nanotubes were doped with the following metals: Zr, Fe, Ni, Mn, Ti, Cu, Co. The cathodes for field emission tests were produced by the screen-printing technique. Field emission tests showed that filling nanotubes by barium allows reduction cathode's operating voltage by 30%.
