摘要
Replication is a process of making a replica (copy) of some data at multiple sites. Replication is used in cloud storage systems as a way to increase data reliability, availability, fault tolerance and it also decrease the access time. What to replicate, number of replicas for a file block and placement of the replicas are the important factors which effects the storage requirement and performance of the cloud storage systems. In this paper, we have proposed a novel replication algorithm for cloud storage systems which decides replication factor for a file block based on confidence values and placement of that file block based on local support of the file block to increase the performance of cloud storage system. We have also carried out preliminary analysis of the algorithms and the results indicate that the proposed algorithm can perform better than the replication algorithm followed in Hadoop distributed file system.
