Estimation of Z′ Boson Parameters by the Forward-Backward Asymmetry of Drell-Yan Process at 7 TeV at the LHC

The forward-backward asymmetry of the Drell-Yan process at the LHC at 7 TeV is investigated. It is found that in some kinematical areas the 1-20 sigma deviations of the CMS results from the Standard model predictions are observed. These deviations are treated in terms of Z' boson. In the model-independent approach, the Z' vector and axial-vector couplings to the Standard model fermions are estimated at the mass m(z'), = 3 TeV and 3,5 TeV and Gamma(z')/m(z'), = 0,1. It is shown that at 1 sigma level Z' boson signal can be clearly distinguished from the CMS data. It is observed also that this result does not depend strongly on the Z' mass.
