摘要
In this paper, we propose a reflection on the concept of classic for children and youth and its difference with those other works that we could call "milestones". And also about another reality: the obligatory reading of classics in the language and literature classroom. Are these books beneficial for young readers? A new conception of literary education indicates that its main objective should be that young people get to read for reading (the pleasure of reading). Are these works appropriate to achieve this goal? In this paper we propose how to approach these texts to the youngest students and what advantages and disadvantages are presented by the alternatives to their full reading. Finally, we reflect on the use of these masterpieces of our literature in the formation of a competent reader.
