摘要
In this paper, an efficient, region-of-interest (ROT) coding scheme achieved by modifying the implicit ROT encoding method is proposed. This new method reduces the priority of background coefficients in the ROT code-block without compromising algorithm complexity. It is suitable for applications in which it may be desirable to encode the ROT to a higher quality level than the background. In addition, several EBCOT-based ROT coding schemes for image compression are discussed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ROT coding scheme improves the compression efficiency and combines the advantages of the implicit ROT encoding method (low complexity) and the maxshift method (good ROT rate distortion performance).
