摘要
To improve upon the thermal and swelling characteristics of rayon fibre we have graft copolymerized methyl acrylate (MA) initiated by eerie ions. Optimization of graft yield and grafting efficiency has been worked out by variation of various reaction conditions. Effect of grafting onto swelling and thermal properties has been studied. Grafting improved initial decomposition temperature (IDT) of rayon fibre significantly and lowers quantum of volatilization and volatilization rate appreciably as at comparative decomposition temperatures (DTs), per cent decomposition (%D) is higher for rayon fibre than that for its graft copolymer. However, both fibres follow the same mechanism and kinetic equation of degradation.
