摘要
The purpose of this study was to develop and validate PET image analysis tools that permit calculation of diastolic and systolic cardiac volumes and of LV ejection fraction from gated cardiac PET images. LV diameter and wall thickness were estimated by model based fitting along radial rays obtained in short axis images. Endocardial contours and areas were derived from these estimates for a set of short axis images and LV volume was calculated In a pilot study with 5 patients, results of obtained by the PET analysis tools were significantly correlated with measurements obtained by cardiac MRI imaging. (Vol-PET = 0.89Vol-MRI + 14, r = 0.94, p < 0.0001; EF-PET = 0.91EF-MRI - 1.42, r = 0.98, p < 0.005). Thus, model-based analysis of gated cardiac PET images seems to offer a novel capability for a near simultaneous assessment of myocardial perfusion, metabolism and contractile function.
