Emergency department evaluation of the chest pain patient

This article deals with the clinical presentation of the chest pain patient in the emergency department. Specifically, this article discusses differentiating patients presenting with chest pain owing to myocardial ischemia from those with chest pain from another etiology. Also covered are the aspects of typical and atypical chest pain, as well as risk factors and the presentation of acute ischemic cardiac syndromes in different populations of patients.
