Synthesis of mesoporous cadmium sulphide in hexagonal liquid crystal media was carried out using morphological templating method. Polarization microscope and X ray diffractometer were used to charaterize the compound. The formation of cadmium sulphide was confirmed using transmission electron microscopy. The resulting compound was found to directly resemble the symmetry and periodicity of the liquid crystal.
