Effects of caps on electronic properties of carbon nanotubes

摘要：
Scattering of an electron wave at various caps which close armchair nanotube is studied. The phase shifts of reflection coefficients can be understood as an effective shift in boundary position and a phase shift at the boundary. The electronic structure of a finite-length nanotube closed by a cap at its end can be calculated with the use of the phase shifts.
