Synthesis of high-purity aluminum oxide from hydrothermally produced boehmite by high temperature vacuum treatment

摘要
In this study a simple and environmentally benign method for conversion of technical purity Al into high-purity alumina is described. The method is based on hydrothermal oxidation of aluminium producing boehmite as intermediate product and its subsequent high temperature treatment. It has been shown that by proposed method the Al powder of technical purity (99.8 wt. %) is converted into alumina with high-purity (up to 99.999 wt.%). (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
