摘要
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) and it has been demonstrated that iron deficiency provides protection for the developmental experimental allergic encephalomyclitis (EAE). Our laboratory has experimented in other models of demyelinating diseases in rats, such as those induced by a caprizome (CPZ) diet. The effects of Bis-(cyclihexanone)-oxalidhydrazone CPZ on weazing rudents provided a protocol for toxic demyelination in which degeneration of oligodendrocytes preceds disruption of the myelin sheath. iron-deficient (ID) animals to induced demyelination. Demyelination was tested by different parameters such as myclin staining and immunohistochemical studies using anti MBP. GFAP and CD11b antibody. As it was previously demonstrated by us, CPZ effects are dependent on micruglia actication and, as expected in ID rats, CPZ is not able to induce servere demyelination as was present in controls.
