This paper presents a brief overview of spectral-luminescence kinetic methods which make it possible to obtain important information on metal ion complexing in solutions. The primary attention is given to a description of the possibilities which the use of nonradiative energy transfer between lanthanide ions offers for study of the structure of concentrated aqueous electrolytic solutions.
