In an unusual HIV-prevention trial in Tanzania, the individuals between the ages of 15 and 30 are receiving a monthly cash payment to avoid diseases transmitted through unsafe sex. Bioethical concerns are raised for this trial as testing for other sexually transmitted disease will serve the trial as a proxy for HIV infection status.
