Particle-size effect on the rate of carbon reduction of TiO2

摘要
Data are presented on the rate of TiO2 reduction in the TiO2-C system at 1300degreesC at different specific surfaces of the starting reagents. The equivalent particle sizes of TiO2 and C, varied in the range 100-500 nm, have similar effects on the rate of TiO2 reduction. Analysis of the reaction kinetics indicates that the carbonizing of TiO2 is a diffusion-limited process if the specific surface areas of TiO2 and C exceed 100 m(2)/g.
