The article presents a pedagogical tool for the TEFL classes: the use of telephone conversation. Taking into consideration the extent to which students in an electronically advanced society make use of phones, the teacher can manipulate motivation by supplying and organizing the lesson content to fit the existing needs and desires of students. The article shows how situations involving the making or receiving of telephone calls, authentic or stimulated, can be introduced in the classroom as a technique for practicing speaking and listening. This method of teaching should encourage students to go further in their effort to learn English.
