摘要
Interventions that reduce the risk of CHD are widely underused by physicians. Data overwhelmingly support the use of statins to lower total cholesterol and LDL-C levels, yet less than 25% of patients with coronary heart disease in the United States are treated with lipid-lowering drugs. Perhaps the physician is the most important risk factor for underuse of cholesterol-lowering strategies. Effective programs that are nurse-based can improve delivery of risk factor management in patients hospitalized for CHD. A model program has been implemented at the University of Maryland.
