摘要
Two common tribo-failure mechanisms are discussed in this paper. The first mechanism deals with the role of asperity flash temperature in scuffing (severe adhesive wear) failure. The second mechanism is concerned with the generation and accumulation of wear particles in the contact zone in initiating tribo-failure. These failure mechanisms can be suppressed by controlling the surface geometry, incorporating the proper lubricant package and surface modification.
