Phase formation studies in ZnB"2O6 and Pb(Zn1/3B"2/3)O3 (B" = Nb, Ta)

Phase developmental stages in ZnO + B '' O-2(5) (B '' = Nb,Ta) on heat treatments were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). Desired phases of the B-site precursor compositions formed directly from the reactants for B '' = Nb, whereas the formation was indirect when B '' = Ta. Similar studies were attempted for PbO + 1/3ZnB '' O-2(6), where only pyrochlore phases were developed, instead of desired perovskite. The overall results are discussed in comparison with other cases of (B',B '')O-2 and Pb(B',B '')O-3. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. All rights reserved.
