THE SHADOW OF ASSISTANCE IN THE PROFESSIONAL INTERVENTION OF THE SOCIAL WORKER

The purpose of this work is to expand the reflection regarding the professional intervention of social workers and their responsibility around the welfare perception of their actions, which is based on Social Work as a discipline of the Social Sciences that emerged from the assistance to the poor and needy, initially charity and beneficence being the principles that governed its actions. However, due to the need for professional care based on theoretical and scientific arguments, which uses a methodology in its professional intervention, the concept of Social Work has been evolving, the concatenation of these being essential to eradicate the welfare perspective that still exists. of the profession. A documentary review has been developed, based on information from books, theories, approaches, texts, having as main results that Social Work continues to be viewed under a subaltern view of the Social Sciences, due to the link that is still evident with welfare in his professional intervention in the various areas of action, demonstrating the absence of theoretical and methodological foundations and limited production of scientific material.
