摘要
Jasmonates are plant hormones that may positively affect the appearance, condition and health of human skin. They have anti-parasitic and anti-tumor activity, stimulate dermis desquamation and reduce discolorations. The aim of this study was to obtain and characterize topical formulations containing jasmonic acid/methyl jasmonate or methyl dihydrojasmonate and to assess their stability by multiple light scattering and laser diffraction methods. Additionally, HPLC method for determination of jasmonates in obtained semisolids was developed. Futhermore, in vitro release studies were performed to select the most suitable topical formulation for carrying jasmonates. The experimental results showed that the most stable was oil-in-water emulsion containing co-emulsifier and prepared at 25 degrees C regardless of the type of jasmonate added. The RP-HPLC methodology was found adequate to determine jasmonates in topical formulations. The best recovery was observed for MeDiJA, which proved its high stability in all formulations. The most suitable semisolid for carrying jasmonates was hydrogel that released the highest amount of jasmonates due to its low viscosity. These results contribute to a better understanding of physical and chemical stability aspects of topical products containing jasmonates. Newly obtained semisolids may exhibit promising properties and may have a beneficial effect on the skin.
