摘要
A study was conducted on the fire resistance of aircraft composite laminates. The scanning electron microscopy was used to study the effect of fire on the mechanical properties of the composite materials. A model for estimating the residual flexural properties of aircraft composite after being thermally degraded in a fire, was also presented. It was found that the carbon fibers were not damaged in the fire test, where as the epoxy matrix had decomposed to a carbonaceous char.
