摘要
CANARIE, INTERNET2 and CLARA are the three advanced networks in America for Canada, USA and 12 countries in Latin American respectively. Their backbone infrastructure has been evolving and updating, adding bandwidth and backbones router's capability. In this work, after reviewing the evolution of each backbone, AMERONET was the name assigned to the huge backbone network resulting from integrating the backbone of these advanced networks covering 14 countries in the continent. Then management assessments were developed on AMERONET. The resulting emulations using showed two main aspects, the first one is the GNS3 emulator capabilities when using high performance backbone networks; the second one is the feasibility of using this type of tools to support strategic decisions concerning the evolution of the deployed infrastructure for advanced networks.
