Regulation approach and international political economy.: Convergent paradigms?

The article outlines the main features of the French regulationist approach (especially as regards to its analysis of international economic relations) and of the Anglosaxon theories of International Political Economy (IPE), two strands of thought of particular usefulness as a result of their numerous theoretical and empirical contributions. The paper stresses the interest of the original regulationist approach and that of the heterodox branch of IPE. The main conclusion is that these two paradigms deliver several common insights, some of which are also particularly appropriate to analyze globalization. However, some adjustments are needed in both schools in order to develop a shared and far-reaching research program.
