摘要
This article is an attempt to optimize the surface finish of roller burnished nonferrous components. The effect of both the burnishing force and number of tool passes was studied, while other parameters were kept constant. Two nonferrous materials-namely, pure aluminum (Al 99.85) and high machining brass (Cu Zn 3g Pb3) bars-were considered. A fuzzy logic model was used to achieve the optimum parameters for surface finish. The fuzzy model predicted that optimum values of surface finish, under considered conditions, may be obtained using a force of 25 Kgf with four tool passes for aluminum, and a force of 30 Kgf with four tool passes for brass. These results, obtained from the fuzzy model, are highly consistent with experimental results.
