摘要
A combination of electron tomography, electron backscatter diffraction and traditional vertical bar g.b vertical bar analysis is used to characterize a dislocation transmission event across a Sigma 3 grain boundary in 304 stainless steel. The parallel {1 1 1} planes across a Sigma 3 boundary allow simultaneous imaging of dislocations in both grains. The interaction is explained in terms of residual strain energy density in the grain boundary due to the accommodation and emission of dislocations and the magnitude of the local shear stress.
