Hydrothermal synthesis of Cd-doped SnO2 Nanostructures and their Structural, Morphological and Optical Properties

摘要
Pure and Cd-doped SnO2 nanostructures with various concentrations (4, 6 and 8%) of Cd have been synthesized via hydrothermal technique and studied their structural, morphological and optical properties. The structural study reveals that pure and Cd-doped SnO2 nanostructures possess crystalline phase and tetragonal structure with average crystalline size in the range of 8.86 nm to 14.9 nm. The FESEM and HRTEM analysis were used to study the morphology of Cd-doped SnO2 nanostructures. The Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) studies confirm that Cd-doped SnO2 nanostructures possess the functional group of both Cd and SnO2. The UV-visible absorption studies show that the absorption edge of the Cd-doped SnO2 nanostructures is red shifted as compared to the pure SnO2 nanostructures and observe the optical band gap decreased from 3.77eV to 3.49eV with increasing the doping concentration of cadmium. The Photoluminescence spectroscopy of pure SnO2 nanostructures shows the strong green emission peak centred at 505 nm and two more strong peaks located at 373nm and 469 nm which is related to the near band edge emission and oxygen vacancy and observed that the intensity of all peaks is increased with the increasing the Cd content.
