Particle breakage and its evaluation of volcanic coarse-grained soils

摘要
In order to investigate the particle breakage properties of volcanic coarse-grained soils, a series of consolidation tests under various conditions such as one-dimensional, isotropic and anisotropic consolidations and triaxial compression tests were performed for five samples, which were taken from natural deposits in Hokkaido. It is found that (1) the amount of particle breakage due to consolidation and shearing depends greatly on effective stress path, (2) there are unique relationships between increment of finer content and effective mean principal stress and (3) the increment of finer content induced by consolidation and shearing in arbitrary stress paths can be estimated by the effective stress ratio eta and the effective mean principal stress p'.
