摘要：

Bis(acetylacetonato)copper(II), which is a common catalyst used in the reactions of diazo compounds, catalyses the oxidation of hydroxy group in alpha-hydroxyketones such as benzoins leading to the formation of benzils. The reaction takes place both by conventional heating of solution and on solid support by microwave irradiation. The reaction is general to substrates having electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups.
