摘要
Overweight and obesity dominate the discussions about dietary problems in children and adolescents in Germany. In contrast, the challenges of disease-related underweight and malnutrition are often underestimated; however, the consequences of inadequate nutrition are severe, particularly in infants and young children. A working group comprised of experts in the field of pediatrics, nutritional medicine, nursing and politics discussed this topic and developed suggestions for measures in order to help improve this situation. A consistent and early identification of underweight, a thorough diagnostic evaluation and the initiation of effective therapeuticmeasures are paramount.
