The influence of Ag on Bi-2212 and Bi-2223

The phase relations within the system Bi2O3-PbO- rO-CaO-CuO including Ag has been studied with emphasis on the superconducting phases (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (2223 phase) and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (2212 phase). The onset temperatures of the peritectic melting of 2223 and 2212 were observed to be decreased by about 20-30 degreesC when Ag is present. In addition, the solid solubility of St in 2212 and Pb in 2223 is affected by Ag.
