A NEW RP-HPLC METHOD FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE AND LOSARTAN POTASSIUM IN BULK AND PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS

A specified, accurate and exact RP-HPLC method was developed for the estimation of Hydrochlorothiazide and Losartan Potassium in pharmaceutical dosage form. The novel method was developed by make use of waters HPLC System on a Zodiac C18 (250 cm x 4.6 mm, 5 mu m) column. The Mixture of 0.01% Ortho Phosporic Acid: Acetonitrile 70:30 v/v mobile phase is used at a flow rate of 1.5 ml/min. The injection volume selected about 20 mu l. The wavelength detection is carried out at 220 nm. The retention time of Hydrochlorthiazide and Losartan were found to be 3.1 min and 7.2 min respectively. The developed RPHPLC method was validated as per ICH guidelines for the estimation of both the drugs in bulk as well as in pharmaceutical dosage forms. The developed method was validated with regard to Accuracy, Precision, Linearity, Robustness and Ruggedness. Hence, the proposed method was successfully used for the simultaneous determination of Hydrochlorothiazide and Losartan Potassium.
