A program has been initiated to collect, critically evaluate, and form a database for thermophysical and thermomechanical properties for fusion reactor plasma facing materials. In addition some in-vessel component materials will be included. Initially the database will concentrate on those materials being considered for use in ITER but will include other materials of interest as alternative PFC materials both in ITER and other devices. The data will be stored in the 'Atomic and Molecular Data Information System', AMDIS, using the 'A Labelled Atomic Data/INterface', ALADDIN, format. The database can be readily accessed via Internet. The data are presented in both tabular and graphical form. In addition some general PMI properties are planned for inclusion, such as tritium retention and erosion parameters which are of interest to fusion machine designers. Materials and material properties which are intended to be included in the initial database are presented and AMDIS and ALADDIN are described as well as access to the system via Internet.
