摘要
In this paper, the shape deformation technique for geometry optimization of microwave structures is introduced. The proposed scheme offers high flexibility in shaping the geometry of a device and is specifically aimed at the design of microwave structures, such as cavity resonators for additive manufacturing. The deformation scheme is coupled to an eigen-mode solver of an electromagnetic field simulator based on the 3D finite-element method (FEM). This gives greater flexibility in the design of a resonant cavity thanks to the introduction of additional degrees of freedom and allows for better control on the electrical parameters of resonators, including the quality factor or higher order mode separation. To show the advantages of shape deformation in resonator design, an example of the design process is shown.
