Liquid desiccant air conditioning (LDAC) system realizes independent humidity control (IHC) which can be driven by low-grade heat source (90degreesC-60degreesC) with high efficiency. Such IHC system is composed of LDAC as dehumidifying method and chiller as cooling method. The principle and performance of the system are presented in this paper and its comparison with conventional vapor compression refrigeration system is also conducted under similar conditions. The results show that IHC air conditioning system has higher energy efficiency than vapor compression refrigeration system when the ratio of electricity and heat price is more than 2.4. The LDAC system can be applied in CHP systems and it is an effective mode to optimize urban energy supply system.
