The reconstruction of abdominal wall defects can be a challenging procedure because it needs to restore musculofascial integrity, avoid causing incisional hernias, and secure the visceral organs. We successfully reconstructed a large abdominal fascial and peritoneal defect using a layer-by-layer method involving a rectus abdominis muscle flap and acellular dermis (AlloDerm (R)).
