A study of the active species in the cationic polymerization initiated by AlCl3 complexes

摘要
The catalysts of AlCl3 complexed with n-, i-, s-, t-butyl alcohols or with butyl chloride in toluene were synthesised at room temperature, at different molar ratios of the components. The dissolution of AlCl3, and the stability in time of the formed complexes was studied. The examination of the IR and IH-NMR spectra emphasized the presence in the AlCl3 complexes of the active species: Bu+AlCl3OH- toluene, Bu+AlCl4- toluene and [GRAPHICS] as well as the influence of the side reactions of esterification, hydrolysis and alkylation.
