TiCo, a 3d-band metal, is known to be an exchange-enhanced itinerant paramagnet. We have recently found that polycrystalline Ti(0.51)Co(0.49) becomes superconducting below approximately 50 mK. In order to elucidate the relationship between the superconductivity and magnetism of this material, the electrical resistivity, specific heat and magnetization in the normal state have been measured in detail. The results of these measurements of the normal-state properties are consistent with the calculations based on the spin fluctuation theory. The considerable sample dependence of the superconducting transition temperature has been studied by focusing on the small number of ferromagnetic clusters.
