This paper deals with the construction of exact series solutions of mixed problems for strongly coupled hyperbolic partial differential systems using a matrix separation of variables method. Algebraic methods are used to study the underlying Sturm-Liouville type vector problem with matrix coefficients appearing in the boundary value conditions. (C) 2003 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V.
