摘要:
In the 1860s, agents of the Brazilian government made an agreement with the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society. This organization would work for the repeal of the Aberdeen Act and for the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Great Britain. On the other hand, the Brazilian government would adopt emancipationist measures. This agreement shows that the Free Womb Law (1871) was not a purely national decision and was related to other political events.
