Effect of grain size on the texture and thermoelectric properties of extruded Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 solid solutions

摘要
Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 samples were prepared by cold pressing and extrusion from powders with an average particle size of 50, 100, 160, 200, 315, 630, and 1000 mum. The texture and thermoelectric power of the samples were found to vary nonmonotonically with particle size. The thermoelectric power was shown to correlate with the extent of preferential orientation. The results are interpreted in terms of the structural defects produced by extrusion, which contribute to the scattering of phonons and electrons.
