摘要
A device has been developed for hot-gripping cylindrical specimens subjected to biaxial (tension/torsion) loading. By supporting the specimen very near the hot zone, the influence of thermal stresses on ultimate or yield strength as well as endurance limit can be minimized. This design thus increases the reliability of high-temperature biaxial mechanical properties data for materials, such as ceramics or other brittle composites, which are sensitive to thermal stresses. Features of this apparatus include high-temperature dimensional stability via in situ load pin adjustability and adaptability to various specimen and furnace geometries.
