摘要：

The development of information technology has created new opportunities for learning, promoting better health and treatment of illnesses. The main purpose of this research is to study the content, structure, visual appearance and usability of an information technology based information site meant for patients with mental illness. The study applies both qualitative and quantitative approaches. A group of test subjects (N = 28) and patients in mental health associations (N = 21) were recruited for the study. In the preliminary outcome it seems that the patient information web-site that based on information technology is necessary. Structure and visual appearance, the usability research of the websites were useful from the user's point of view. Based on user's feedback, further steps will be taken to develop the web-sites and to test and evaluate its usefulness for the field of mental health care.
