Converters are continually looking for ways to add value to their products. The added value can come from either an improvement in physical properties or from a unique balance of those properties. This study investigates using metallocene LLDPE resins in biaxially oriented films. These biaxially oriented metallocene LLDPE (m-LLDPE) films have a different combination of properties than BOPP films. So, biaxially oriented m-LLDPE films should open new markets that are not currently served by BOPP films for biaxially oriented film converters. Typical film properties and possible applications will be discussed.
