Formation process and characterization of copper oxide nanoparticles dispersed in polymer thin films

摘要
The effects of atmosphere and heat treatment temperature on the dispersion of Cu2O nanoparticles in vapor deposited nylon 11 thin films were studied. The results of X ray photoelectron spectroscopy depth profiling and electron diffraction showed that the deposited Cu was found to be oxidized to Cu2 and penetrated from surface into the bulk phase of nylon 11 layer by heat treatment in air, whereas the Cu particles cannot penetrate into the films in a N2 atmosphere. The Cu2O nanoparticles were found to be uniformly dispersed in the nylon 11 matrix and well-isolated individually.
